Polycarbonate materials are essentially unbreakable and due to high transparency are an excellent substitute for tempered glass in single glazed doors. Care must be taken though to choose only polycarbonate materials with a scratch resistant coating such as Lexan ™ mr10 and proper installation techniques should be used to avoid flexing of the material. In high risk situations or for high value areas windows may be fitted with an inside framed polycarbonate shield.
